A GIRL LIKE ME VIDEO
So Set it Off Oakwood kicked off their second week with this video on black female beauty. A lot of the comments made be the young ladies in this video still ring true to me at the age of 23. Any thoughts?
Ignorance the catalyst of Black despair. We live in a society where we are not taught our roots we can only identify with the trunk of broken homes, lost values hence we grow to become leaves that are lost in the wind, more so in the oblivion of forever to recreate a cycle that we fear and more so hate. Watching a "Girl like me" only reiterates the impact that society has on our black female psyche. We live a life base on the false premise that anything that is Black=Not Good.where society perpetuates the idea that lighter is better fairer is good. Black rpresents evil, death, loss why? We constantly try to find self in world that is not ours. becaue here we r chattles, black beams projecting disaster. President elect Barack Obama, siad lets "put our hands on the arc of history" and and bend for a better brighter Black tomorrow. So lets Set it Off with our thick lip big behinds, natural cocoa, mocha, almond, midnight black self. The tears of the Sun are ours to endure, the waters of heaven ours to rejoice in the colour of our skin the epitome of our Greatness.
